WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The Montgomery County District Attorney’s office is investigating a deadly shooting involving police. An officer shot and killed an armed woman who had pointed a gun at police and EMTs in Willow Grove, Montgomery County, authorities said Sunday night.
Around 5 p.m., Upper Moreland police and EMTs responded to Evans Avenue, near Old York Road. Police had received a call about a woman waving a gun outside of her residence, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
The 69-year-old woman first pointed the gun at EMTs. Police ordered her to drop the weapon. Instead, she pointed the gun at police, and an officer shot her, authorities said.
The first responders treated her on the scene and then took her to the hospital, where she died.
The District Attorney’s Office identified the woman as Mary Meister. The officer who pulled the trigger was not named.
