PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two women have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Atlantic City, New Jersey that injured an 11-year-old boy Saturday night.

Around 10:30 p.m., investigators said two suspects — 22-year-old Yanirah Davis, of Galloway, and 33-year-old Yontay Cooper, of Egg Harbor Township — approached a group of people on North Rhode Island Avenue with a hammer and a handgun. Police said the women had a prior altercation with this group.

Officials said the women began smashing a car window and then opened fire at the group. One of the bullets went through a nearby home, striking an 11-year-old boy while he was lying on the floor.

The boy was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Davis and Cooper were arrested Sunday morning. They both face several charges, including aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, and related offenses.
