PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 63-year-old worker had to be rescued from atop a water tower in Burlington County after police said he suffered a medical emergency while conducting an inspection.
It happened around 1 p.m. on Wednesday at a water tower on Cedar Lane in Florence Township.
According to officials, the man was inspecting the tower when he began experiencing chest pains.
He called for help and emergency crews responded. They placed the man on a rescue board and lowered him to safety.
He was then taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. His name and condition have not been released.
In a statement on social media, the Florence Township Police Department thanked the first responders at the scene, including the Burlington County Technical Rescue Team, writing, "Their professionalism, training, and teamwork were instrumental in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion."
