Around 2 p.m. Sunday, police shot a man, identified as Daunte Wright, during a traffic stop. Officers found out that the Wright had an outstanding warrant, and he attempted to flee the scene. An officer fired their gun and struck Wright, who was able to get back into his car and drive for several blocks before hitting another car.
The shooting sparked outrage and protests around the scene. Some protests quickly turned violent as police cars were damaged.
On Monday night, President Joe Biden urged calm in Brooklyn Center and the Twin Cities in the wake of the killing.
The president said he watched the body-camera video of the shooting, which he called graphic.
"The question is, was it an accident? Was it intentional? That remains to be determined."
