UConn head coach Danny Hurley probably did not think doing this would get him an ejection. Referees removed him from Tuesday’s game against the Villanova Wildcats late in the first half for the unacceptable act of ... pumping up the crowd?
Hurley had just received a technical foul for slapping the side board and tried to laugh it off, so he turned toward the fans and began raising his arms up and down, which apparently the officials did not like, assessing him another technical and ejecting him from the game.
It was a shocking move from the official and one that was met with disbelief by college hoops fans and media everywhere on social media.
Kimani Young replaced Hurley for the remainder of the game, which the Huskies won in thrilling fashion, 71-69.
After the game, Hurley said he was curious to hear the explanation.
