Aerial photos, video show Hurricane Ida's devastation along Louisiana coast
NEW ORLEANS (Audacy) — The devastation across south Louisiana and the scope of Hurricane Ida's wrath have come into perspective.
Major metro areas without power, homes leveled and snapped limbs littering the street, but the worst images could be seen from above as the Coast Guard allowed media to join a flight over the Grand Isle area, near where the storm made landfall at Category 4 with winds upward of 150 mph.
On Tuesday, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said he focus now is on deploying resources to reach people where they are.
"We have been surveying our residential needs throughout the city of New Orleans and we're focusing heavily on day two with respite care, getting the much needed resources to residents in their respective neighborhoods," Catrell said at a news conference.
