AUSTIN (Audacy) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement from his office Tuesday afternoon.
Spokesman Mark Miner said Abbott tested positive Tuesday.
"The Governor has been testing daily, and today was the first positive test result," said Miner in a statement. "Governor Abbott is in constant communication with his staff, agency heads, and government officials to ensure that state government continues to operate smoothly and efficiently."
The statement says Abbott will isolate himself in the Governor's Mansion, and continue to test daily. Miner also said Abbott is receiving the Regeneron monoclonal antibody treatment.

"Governor Abbott is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, in good health, and currently experiencing no symptoms," the statement continues.
"Everyone that the Governor has been in close contact with today has been notified. Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott tested negative."
Abbott received his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Dell Seton Medical Center in late December 2020, in an event broadcast live on television across the state.
