PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. John Fetterman was at fault for a car accident on his wedding anniversary on Sunday in Maryland, according to a report from Maryland State Police.

The police report says the Democrat was driving his Chevy Traverse at a “high rate of speed — well over the posted speed limit” of 70 miles per hour.

A witness to the accident told police Fetterman passed her on Interstate 70. Then, she later saw him rear-end another car near the exit for I-68.

Fetterman and his wife, Gisele, were taken to the hospital for evaluation but did not suffer any serious injuries.

The other driver’s condition has not been released.

No charges have been filed.
