PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — James is an active, easy-going and compassionate young man with a bright smile.
Social worker Theresa Brightman has worked with the 20-year-old since he was a young child and knows him the best.
"He's amazing," she said. "He's non-verbal, but he's very animated.
"He likes being in community. He has a very laid-back demeanor. He doesn't get excited about a lot."
James has sensory issues and likes to use his hands. Video games do not interest him, but shredding paper and playing with kinetic sand do.
James is looking for a family to love him and be his biggest advocate. He needs a family who is patient, flexible and willing to oversee his medical needs.
The future is uncertain for him, as he ages out of the system at 21, but he is hoping for a family who will love him forever, because, in Brightman's words, that is what it's going to take.
