The Cheltenham School District will cancel the 2026 football season for both its varsity and JV teams.
Dr. Brian W. Scriven, the district's superintendent, announced the news on Tuesday.
The 2025 season was suspended following an investigation that found there was student-on-student assault in the team's locker room.
Scriven says the several critical tasks that need to happen before the program can resume have not yet been completed.
The district says the high school will have a 9th grade football team, and also that it will work with coaches and advisors to provide opportunities to the pep band, drum line, color guard, and cheerleading squad without a football season.
