LISTEN NOW: Fly On The Wall — Andy Samberg
Andy talked about how after never stepping in the writers room at SNL, aside from those insanely popular pre-tapes, he ventured off into the unfamiliar territory of creating and writing for his own show Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Speaking of those popular pre-tapes, they found a home on YouTube, that contributed to the rise in his recognizability and popularity tenfold. Samberg shared how he and his comedy partners, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone — aka The Lonely Island — fell in love with comedy at a young age all thanks to Saturday Night Live.
Eventually conversing about SNL’s 40th Anniversary show, Dan Aykroyd roaming the halls of Studio 8H, Andy’s audition for the famous sketch-comedy show, and a whole lot more. Listen to it all in the episode above.
Be a Fly On The Wall as Saturday Night Live alumni Dana Carvey and David Spade take you behind the scenes to reminisce about the most memorable stories and moments with friends of the show. In each episode, you’ll hear from your favorite cast members, hosts, writers, and musical guests as they share never-before told stories about their careers; including how they made their way to the show and how being a part SNL’s cultural history has impacted their lives beyond the show.
