Alongside opener PinkPantheress, Olivia Rodrigo took the stage in Atlanta, Georgia this past Tuesday. Yet amid her 22-song setlist, one fan made a huge impact on the singer, making her run across the stage to get closer to them. The fan was holding a sealed card and a sign that Rodrigo read to the crowd: “Olivia, will you do my gender reveal?” As seen in reposted fan videos, Rodrigo got as close to the edge of the stage as possible, with the crowd cheering for both her and the pregnant fan.
“Oh my god! I’m actually gonna cry, this is so exciting,” Olivia said while taking out her earpiece to get the fan’s name. Ever the entertainer, the 21-year-old singer got the crowd involved in the excitement too. “You guys, do we think that Savannah’s having a boy or a girl?”
After a small fidget with the card, Olivia made the announcement loudly: “Savannah, you’re having a boy!” The crowd erupted in loud cheers, and even the singer was beaming. “I’m gonna cry, I can’t believe I was a part of that! Oh my god, congratulations!”
Though she had to run back to her place on stage to continue the show, it was clear that Rodrigo was impacted by that endearing moment. “I’m emotional, I think that was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” she said into her mic, before noting that she would hold onto the announcement card as “a keepsake”. The fan interaction, and the entire concert, was a major hit with Atlanta music fans, resulting in the Atlanta Journal Constitution calling her, “the pop-rock princess we need.”
The GUTS World Tour moves on to Kansas City tomorrow, and will eventually end its American leg in California. From there, Rodrigo will tour throughout Australia well into October. And this is not a tour you want to miss, as she’s featured cameos from the likes of Noah Kahan, Jewel, and opening performances by Chappell Roan.
