Outside Lands music festival took place this past weekend at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Headliners for the 3-day festival included Doja Cat, Tyler the Creator, and Hozier.

From its perfectly curated line up to the many activations and food vendors, Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco encompasses everything that the perfect festival is made up of. The vibes and energy of the festival goers radiates through one another creating a happy and safe place for all to have a great time. LIVE 101.5 was grateful enough to be onsite for the festival and enjoy the many amenities that it has to offer. From trying new foods from San Francisco’s famous Chef, Chef Smelly, to discovering a new “horchata” beer and new artists to listen to, our time at Golden Gate Park was filled with so much adventure and excitement. Not only was this a break from the record 118 degree weather, but we were able to really experience a new festival culture by talking to lots of locals who shared their past experiences at the festival and how almost every aspect of the festival showcased a different side of San Francisco.

It was very inevitable that music is a universal language because there were so many people there but all for the same reason, the music. The eclectic line up gave fans the opportunity to see some of their favorite artists while also stumbling upon new artists to indulge in. We stumbled upon a new stage called the “Dolores” stage, where they highlighted new and local LGBTQ artists and DJs. The stage quickly got filled when the hits were remixed with bounce music for all to enjoy. Keep walking north of the new stage and attendees were graced with the main stage that had a giant bridge built into it, symbolizing the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. This is where headliners Doja Cat, Tyler the Creator and Hozier graced the stage. Joining the mainstage lineup included acts like Ludacris, Glass Animals, Doechii, Gracie Abrams, Gesaffelstein and many more! No matter where you were in the festival, music can be heard from all directions. It's where you felt most called to is where you ended up enjoying the music.

LIVE got the chance to talk to artist and performer of the festival, Big Freedia. She was performing twice at the Dolores stage on Saturday and once on Sunday on the mainstage. Freedia is known to some as the queen of New Orleans bounce music but with the release of her latest album, she brings both genres of bounce and gospel together. The new album is called “Pressing Onward” and Freedia talked about her struggles of pressing onward from her partner's recent passing and how she remains so strong through the process. Freedia can also be heard on some of Beyonce's projects including hit songs “Formation” and “Break My Soul” so naturally we asked if she has any predictions or inside scoop on any new potential Beyonce music. Of course she could not say but, wishful thinking. The conversation was short but powerful as she bestowed some new words of affirmation upon us to start to implement in our own lives.

The overall festival experience was amazing! Between the Music, Food, Culture (and beer) we were able to feel like we really got the full San Francisco Music Festival Experience. We met some of the most incredible people and created so many memories that hopefully we can revisit once again. We would highly recommend this festival to anyone who wants a place to feel safe and also have a good time as well. Getting lost in the park was never the plan, but I guess for the sake of the festival, that was the whole point.
