Neon nostalgia met sunset skies at Just Like Heaven 2025, where the festival's curated lineup played like a love letter to indie sleaze and bloghouse memories. Empire of the Sun delivered the weekend’s most visually striking set — all shimmering costumes, synth-drenched anthems, and a stage presence that felt more like a transmission from another planet than a band performance. Meanwhile, Rilo Kiley’s rare reunion tugged at every millennial heartstring. Jenny Lewis, radiant in her signature fringe, moved through Rilo Kiley's catalogue with ease, sounding as sharp and urgent as ever.
Bloc Party and TV on the Radio brought the energy up early, ripping through fan favorites and deep cuts with a rawness that reminded the crowd why these bands songs still hit so hard, while Vampire Weekend closed the night with warmth and wit. Ezra Koenig's laid-back charm carried favorites like A-Punk and Harmony Hall as the crowd swayed under pastel skies. As if that wasn't enough, the band performed an ode to Indie Rock with covers of, to name a few, Phoenix's Lisztomania, Tame Impala's The Less I Know The Better, and TV on the Radio's Wolf Like Me.
It wasn’t just a music festival — it was a perfectly timed time machine, and for a few hours, it really did feel just like heaven. If this year was any indication, we’re already counting down the days until next year’s lineup drops.
