A Sublime biopic is coming: Here's who is playing Bradley Nowell

Some movement has been made regarding the official biopic for California Ska/Reggae/Punk rockers Sublime -- with Riverdale star KJ Apa tapped to play the role of late founding vocalist Bradley Nowell.

According to Variety, the Sony 3000 Pictures project will be directed by Justin Chon, who also co-wrote the screenplay along with Bobby Kim, founder of The Hundreds streetwear brand, and is based on an original draft by Ozarks' Chris Mundy.

Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson, two of Sublime’s founding members will also be on hand as executive producers, as well as Nowell’s widow Troy, son Jakob Nowell, who has been fronting the newly revived band on a number of headlining and festival dates this year., and Francis Lawrence.

KJ Apa, aside from his starring role as Archie Andrews in the CW series Riverdale, is also credited as starring in the racing film One Fast Move and is set to play the lead in the upcoming romantic-comedy drama Falling, now filming in the U.K.

Now back on the road with co-founder Eric Wilson and late frontman Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob, Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh is happy to have his “long-distance family” together again, performing songs for fans who have stayed with the group over its long and storied career and newcomers alike.
