Fans were treated to an official reunion in January when the surviving members of Nirvana (Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear) were joined by St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, and Violet Grohl for a surprise set at Los Angeles’ FireAid benefit concert, and this weekend were fronted by Country/Pop crossover artist Post Malone during Saturday Night Live’s 50th-anniversary celebrations in New York City.

After being brought to the stage at NYC’s iconic Radio City Music Hall on Friday, February 14 by comedian Adam Sandler, the band -- billed as “Post Nirvana” -- jumped into a blistering rendition of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” for the SNL 50 crowd. Take a look at a short clip below, and watch SNL50: The Homecoming Concert streaming now on Peacock.

Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the event also featured special anniversary performances from Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Lady GagaMumford & SonsJack WhiteDavid ByrneRobynDEVOAlabama Shakes' Brittany Howard, Coldplay's Chris MartinThe B-52s, The Roots, and tons more.

Posty was the perfect choice as frontman after proving his fandom during an incredible COVID lockdown charity livestream in 2020 that saw him and blink-182 drummer Travis Barker take on a full, 15-song set of Nirvana covers.

As part of this year's Record Store Day, RSD ambassador Post Malone is releasing the entire 2020 tribute performance, also featuring guitarist Nick Mac and bassist Brian Lee, on limited-edition vinyl with proceeds from the album benefiting MusiCares’ Addiction Recovery/Mental Health division.
