Wet Nose Wednesday Pet: Gabriel

Gabriel the dog

Gabriel is a regal 2yr old purebred Doberman Pincher with a docked tail and full, droopy ears. At 60lbs he’s is an absolute sweetheart that loves cuddling and will affectionately glue himself to your side. We’ve seen no behavioral issues.

Sadly, Gabriel found himself surrendered to a high kill-shelter, probably from a neglectful breeder, testing high heartworm positive. He’s halfway through treatment covered by the rescue and is completely asymptomatic. He has a healthy appetite and will run/jog with you for hours. That said, once home he’ll gladly settle down for long naps and will entertain himself with his favorite toy or a snuffle mat.

Gabriel is extremely smart and catches on to things and tricks very fast. He has some training but is stubborn in his Doberman ways and will need further instruction. He’s still learning his leash etiquette and so does require steady and firm direction on walks. While he gets very interested in fellow canine joggers and cats, he only really looks and does not pull. He’s fully housetrained,  takes direction very well and is a respectful houseguest. No socks have gone missing, nothing has been chewed (not even the chew toys), doggy gate is intact, and no furniture has been jumped on.
He is good with other dogs but prefers females, and is not good with cats. He rides well in the car and will walk right into his crate, no questions asked.
