The city of New Orleans is slowly coming back to life with electrical power.
Speaking at Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s press conference Thursday, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Infrastructure, Ramsey Green says this morning Entergy crews restored two power transmission lines feeding the New Orleans Power Station and Nine Mile Six power plants in New Orleans.

“Those two power plants are moving,” said Green. “That transmission line that came in yesterday came through Slidell.”
This means residents in some neighborhoods now have electrical power in their homes.
“Their [Entergy] numbers as of short time ago, they have 30,000 customers have been restored,” said Green. “They have 13 of their substations are back online there remains 14 substations down. They are working on getting those on.”
So far, Green says, residents in parts of Mid City, the Central Business District, New Orleans Eats, and Carrollton neighborhoods now have power.
Green says Entergy’s goal today is to restore the power balance of the French Quarter, which came on last night, along with balancing power to CBD.
Entergy is also providing generator power to the city’s NORD Cooling Shelters and five fire stations.
Entergy is working to restore power to hospitals and is providing power to the East Bank sewerage treatment plant, which did take flood damage during the storm, according to Green.
