'Leave It to Beaver' actor Tony Dow, 76, hospitalized with pneumonia

Tony Dow has been hospitalized with pneumonia.

After falling ill, the “Leave It to Beaver” actor struggled to get medical treatment to COVID-19, TMZ reports.

His wife, Laure Shulkin, told the outlet that he was taken to the E.R. on Thursday.

She explained that due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, he wasn’t able to get a bed for 24 hours.

The 76-year-old was reportedly tested negative for the virus five times.

Lauren noted that he’s now on the mend.

Doctors believe he will be released within a week.

“On behalf of Tony and myself we thank you for your concern for him,” she told the outlet.

His manager, Frank Billota, gave fans an update via Facebook, writing: "Thanks for your patience on this update. Tony has been diagnosed with pneumonia but is in good spirits and is doing well. He was up walking around yesterday and his doctors think he should be able to return home within the week."

The actor is best known for playing Wally Cleaver on the sitcom that ran from 1957 to 1963.

Following the sitcom, he continued his acting career and even got into directing.

His last appearance was on the TV show “Suspense” in 2016.
