The Louisiana Public Service Commission reports more than half of customers in Ida’s hardest-hit parishes now have power. Fewer than 50% of all customers in Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Charles, and St. John Parishes are out and the total number of customers out across the state due to Ida is down to 85,000.

This comes after more than a million households and businesses lost power after Ida blew through August 29th. Power was largely restored to Orleans, St. Tammany, and Upper Jefferson Parishes last week, but power officials warn people in lower portions of the Bayou Parishes and some River Parish communities won’t be back up until the end of the month.

Terrebonne, St. Charles, St. John, and Lafourche all report 45%-47% of customers are out. About a quarter of St. John customers are still without power.

Just under 10% of customers are still out in Tangipahoa and Livingston. Combined that’s about 12,000 customers in the heavily wooded region, largely in the areas near where Ida’s eyewall tracked near the parish line.

Here are the latest restoration estimates from Entergy:

- Just under 5,000 Jefferson Parish customers remain without power. West Bank restoration is expected September 17th while Lower Jefferson restoration isn’t expected until September 29th. Grand Isle will require a full rebuild.

- Just under 23,000 customers remain out in Lafourche Parish. Restoration is expected by September 29th.

- A little over 12,000 are out in Terrebonne. Restoration is also expected by September 29th.

- Just over 10,000 remain without power in St. Charles. Restoration expected by September 29th.
