Back in the day, going to Blockbuster Video was a weekend tradition for many hoping to check out the latest movies available to screen at home. Of course, those days are now long gone thanks in part to the rise of streaming platforms.
And now one of the largest streaming services available is using Blockbuster Video to further their own success.

Netflix has given a straight-to-series order for a comedy about the last remaining Blockbuster Video store, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Blockbuster," a workplace comedy from writer Vanessa Ramos, was previously being developed at NBC, but was recently picked up by Netflix.
The 10-episode series stars "Fresh Off the Boat" actor Randall Park, and will explore maintaining a small business .
Ramos will write the script alongside David Caspe ("Happy Endings") and Jackie Clarke ("Superstore").
“To say getting to make a show about a place I love, with my friends Jackie and David, and Randall Park as our star is a dream come true, somehow feels like an understatement,” said Ramos. “I could not be more grateful to Jim [Donnelly] and Megan [Macmillan] at Universal for supporting this project since day one and Tracey, Andy [Weil], and the whole team at Netflix for being on board with so many weird jokes.”
“We’re so happy to be strolling the aisles of a Blockbuster once again, with Vanessa, David and Jackie leading the way,” said Jim Donnelly, exec vp comedy at Universal TV. “We’re also thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Netflix, where we never have to worry about late fees.”
While its unknown where the series will take place, Blockbuster Video's last remaining store is actually located in Bend, Oregon. The 2020 documentary "The Last Blockbuster" centered around the store and its manager Debbie Tisher and is available to stream, you guessed it, on Netflix.
Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date for "Blockbuster."
