Not every college athlete gets a full ride.
That's something Dee Mitchell knows all about. This young guy with big hoop dreams earned his way onto the Oklahoma State University Cowboys Basketball team as a walk-on in 2019.
Walk-on, meaning he wasn't drafted. And he didn't get a scholarship.
He didn't let that stop him. He would work hard on the court, then work hard off the court, earning a salary at his local Walmart to pay for his college tuition.
That was, until earlier this week. His coach, Mike Boynton, swung by his job two years to the day be became a walk-on to let him know that he was awarded a scholarship for the rest of the way.
Hard work and a good attitude... eventually, it pays off. Congrats Dee!
