Jamie Lee Curtis did not hold back when talking about her past substance abuse issues.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” news program, the Oscar-winner said she “was an opiate addict, I liked a good opiate buzz," reported TODAY.

“And if fentanyl was available, as easily available as it is today on the street, I’d be dead,” she said.

Curtis told the program that sobriety “made it all crystal clear.”

She then discussed losing her brother Nicholas to a heroin overdose when he was only 21. “I’m so hyper aware of what the alternative is,” she disclosed.

Curtis celebrated 24 years of sobriety in February.

“There are women in prison whose lives have been shattered by drugs and alcohol, not because they were violent felons, not because they were horrible people, but because they were addicts,” she said. “I am incredibly lucky that that wasn’t my path.”

The actor said she was so happy sobriety has given her the chance to “grow old.”

“My gratitude is enormous because I have this incredible life,” she said.
