
LOS ANGELES (KNX) — GRAMMY winner and nominee LeVar Burton will have hosting duties at the 64th annual GRAMMY Awards, organizers announced Friday, saying he will host the "Premiere Ceremony" ahead of the main event.

The 2022 GRAMMY Awards will stream live beginning at 12:30 p.m. PT on April 3, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. More than 70 awards will be handed out during the stream.
"I'm excited to host this celebration of the best performers across
genres and art forms," Burton said in a statement shared by City News Service.
"I am incredibly honored in particular to be [nominated and] represented in the Best Spoken Word category this historic year, with a cohort of five other outstandingly talented Black men, along with the words of the late great Congressman John Lewis."
Performers at the 64th annual GRAMMYS include Curtis Stewart, Jimmie Allen, Mon Laferte, Ledisi and Allison Russell.
Stewart received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Classical Instrument Solo, Allen received a nomination for Best New Artist, Mon Laferte received a nomination for Best Regional Mexican Music Album, Ledis is nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, and Russell is nominated for Best American Roots Performance.
The GRAMMY Premiere Ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday April 3. They will stream live from Las Vegas online on YouTube and online at live.grammy.com. The 64th GRAMMY Awards air on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT. on Sunday, April 3.
