A recent episode of “Wheel of Fortune” saw one contestant lose out on a huge sum of money.
Megan Carvale was dinged wrong giving her verbal answer, even though she may have said the correct phrase for the bonus question.
The clue was “living thing,” and the correct answer was “pink orchid.”
Carvale gave a number of answers before saying what sounded like “pony orchid.”
“You might have been overthinking a type of orchid,” host Pat Sajak told her before he revealed the bonus amount of $40,000. “I’m sorry that didn’t work out for you.”
While “Wheel of Fortune” producers and hosts didn’t believe Carvale said the correct term, many online fans thought she was quite close.
“There is no question, she absolutely said ‘pink orchid.’ Please give this girl her winnings!” a Twitter user proclaimed.
“So weird. I swear she said it,” another chimed in on the social media site.
Even without the bonus money, Carvale still took home $14,007 and a vacation to Aruba.
