Serious watchers of “Wheel of Fortune” were not pleased with host Pat Sajak for missing a rules break on a recent episode of the game show.
The moment in question came when contestant Nadine Cedro was taking a turn to spin the wheel, with the puzzle being a crossword with the clue being “butter.” The words in the puzzle all coming after butter in compound words.
Sajak repeated the rules, “say everything, don’t add anything.”
“Fly, Fingers, Bean, Nuts,” Cedro said, and was awarded the win. But, the puzzle on the board showed “Fly, Fingers, Bean, Nut,” with that last word being singular and not plural as she said.
Viewers were quick to head to social media and call out the usual rules stickler Sajak for letting this one slide.
A number said they definitely heard “nuts.” With others claiming to have hit rewind on the moment three times.
One user even pointed out how closed captioning picked up the miss.
Sajak recently announced the current season of “Wheel of Fortune” will be his last and he will retire at its end.
