Bill Belichick made just his second public comments since parting ways with the Patriots in mid-January on Wednesday, taking the time to relay some kind words about a former coworker.

The former New England head coach, through Boston College football's social media, released a statement in relation to the Eagles hiring Bill O'Brien as their next head football coach. Here's what it said:

“My relationship with Bill spans nearly three decades. Of all the coaches I have worked with, few possess Bill's experience and success at both the college and NFL levels. As he has proven each step of his career, Bill is a leader of young men and an outstanding communicator. He is tough, smart, passionate, and a great choice to lead the Boston College football program while also serving as an outstanding representative of the entire BC community.”

O'Brien spent the 2023-24 season as the Patriots offensive coordinator, returning to the sidelines in Foxborough after 13 years away from the club. Following New England's parting of ways with Bill Belichick and the subsequent hire of Jerod Mayo, O'Brien originally accepted a job as the offensive coordinator at Ohio State before calling an audible. He was named BC's next head football coach last week after Jeff Hafley left to become the Packers' defensive coordinator.
