Bruins injury updates: Latest on Kevan Miller, Matt Grzelcyk, David Krejci

The big Bruins injury news Wednesday was that defenseman Jeremy Lauzon will miss at least the next four weeks after undergoing surgery on a fracture in his left hand, but there were some updates on a few other injured Bruins as well.

On the negative side of things, coach Bruce Cassidy said after practice that defenseman Kevan Miller will miss a little bit more time due to some lingering soreness in his surgically repaired knee. Miller had played the first 15 games this season, but the Bruins had started to manage his practice reps more in recent weeks to give him more down time.

Then they decided not to bring him to Lake Tahoe for Sunday's outdoor game in order to give him a full week breather between games. Miller returned to the ice for Tuesday's practice, but Cassidy said his knee wasn't feeling good a day later on Wednesday, so they'll give him at least a couple more days off.

Miller won't travel at least to start the Bruins' upcoming three-game road trip to New York, so he'll miss at least Thursday night's game against the Islanders and likely Friday's against the Rangers as well.

On a more positive note, though, Cassidy said that fellow defenseman Matt Grzelcyk (lower body) will travel with the team to New York and is getting close to a return. Grzelcyk has missed the last four games and eight of the last nine, but skated on his own before practice on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Usually players will get at least one full practice in with the team before returning to game action, but with the Bruins unlikely to have any full practices over the next several days with three games in four days, Grzelcyk could return without it if he's feeling good.

There was also good news when it comes to Jakub Zboril, who has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury. He has practiced each of the last two days and Cassidy said he believes Zboril will be in the lineup Thursday night.

Up front, David Krejci, who is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury, hasn't practiced yet this week and will likely miss at least Thursday's game.

Here is how the Bruins lined up in Wednesday's practice and are expected to line up Thursday night (pending a possible Grzelcyk return):

Brad Marchand - Patrice Bergeron - David Pastrnak
Nick Ritchie - Charlie Coyle - Craig Smith
Anders Bjork - Jack Studnicka - Jake DeBrusk
Trent Frederic - Sean Kuraly - Chris Wagner

Urho Vaakanainen - Charlie McAvoy
Jakub Zboril - Brandon Carlo
John Moore - Connor Clifton

Tuukka Rask
Jaroslav Halak
