The injury news for the Bruins on Tuesday wasn't too encouraging as they head to Long Island and try to avoid elimination in Wednesday's Game 6.
Coach Bruce Cassidy said that defensemen Brandon Carlo and Kevan Miller will not travel and remain out. Fourth-line center Curtis Lazar, who was injured in Monday's Game 5, will also miss Game 6.
Cassidy did not commit either way when asked if goalie Tuukka Rask will start Game 6. Rask was pulled from Game 5 before the start of the third period due to what Cassidy said was "some maintenance that needed to be done." Cassidy said they'll make a decision on Wednesday.
"We’re happy with his performance," Cassidy said of Rask on Tuesday. "He’s been better than he was yesterday, but we weren’t good enough in front of him as well, let's face it.
"We're not dissatisfied with Tuukka's play. There is some health issues. Listen, we know he missed some time this year. We're not going to get into where he's at, if it affects his game, all that. There's also a lot of games in a row he's played. At some point that could be an issue in the playoffs. There's a lot of things that go into it."
Rookie Jeremy Swayman took over for Rask and faced just three shots on goal in the third, giving up one goal while also stopping a breakaway chance. That was his first career NHL playoff action, and Game 6 would be his first playoff start if that's the direction the Bruins go.
On defense, the Bruins will likely go with the same group of six as the last couple games, meaning Jeremy Lauzon, Jarred Tinordi and Connor Clifton would all remain in.
Up front, Cassidy will presumably move Sean Kuraly back to center with Lazar out, and then bring in either Jake DeBrusk or Trent Frederic to play on the left.
