Much was made of Chris Sale proclaiming that he was heading to his next rehab assignment start in Scranton via a bus ride with the rest of the Worcester Red Sox.

Well, according to Red Sox manager Alex Cora, evidently the bus might have left without Sale. Cora surmised Wednesday Sale might be joining his Triple-A teammates thanks to another mode of transportation.

When first asked about how Sale was going to get to Pennsylvania, Cora said, “I think he was going to hop on a bus either today or tomorrow to head to Triple A." The problem was that Worcester already played in Scranton Tuesday night.

So, when informed that the chain of events didn't quite line up, Cora chuckled and relayed what actually might have happened.

“Well, yeah. That whole thing. You know what, I’m going to ask him about that bus thing because the bus was on Tuesday," the manager said. "So, for how eager he was for hoping on the bus, that was just a quote, probably. Yeah. Probably he got a limo or something or TWA, Tom Werner Airlines maybe. He’s going to kill me for that one.”

Sale is slated to make his final rehab outing before joining the big-league team Saturday.
