Looks like another old friend is coming back to the division, landing in a now all-too familiar place for former Patriots.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport former Patriots and Rams running back Sony Michel is signing with the Miami Dolphins. Terms of the deal were not available at the time news broke. Michel joins a revamped running back room in Miami, with Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert recently added to the mix. Coach Mike McDaniel, in his first year after serving as offensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers, uses a number of backs in his run-heavy system, so Michel should get a chance to establish himself and fight for playing time.

Though never topping a thousand yards in a season, Michel was often a target of sports media and Patriot fan complaints during his time here, but such is the price of being a first round draft pick who doesn’t become a star. Michel did have another season last year consistent with his career averages; 845 yards, over four yards per carry and four rushing TDs. He’s also played four seasons and won two Super Bowls (not too shabby). He becomes the latest former Patriot to hook on with the Fins in recent year, joining names like Elandon Roberts, Adam Butler, Eric Rowe and Jason McCourty, among others, who have departed Foxboro for Miami Gardens. Though it should be noted Michel was traded by the Patriots to the Rams last offseason in the final year of his rookie deal.
