Udoka spent one season as Boston's coach, leading the Celtics to the NBA Finals last year.

He did not get a second year, however, as he was suspended before the start of this season for what the team termed "violations of team policies." According to multiple reports, Udoka had an inappropriate workplace relationship.

The Brooklyn Nets reportedly planned to hire Udoka back in November, with the Celtics willing to let him leave, but they ultimately decided to go in a different direction and hire Jacque Vaughn instead.

Udoka was expected to be one of the favorites to replace Nick Nurse in Toronto, but Houston lands him instead. The Rockets fired Stephen Silas earlier this month after his third season with the team, one in which Houston went 22-60, tied for the second-worst record in the NBA.

According to Wojnarowski, the Rockets "probed the circumstances around Udoka's Celtics departure with the team and league office" before making the decision to hire him.
