Celtics lose Game 1 as Tatum doesn't attempt a shot in fourth quarter

The New England Patriots travel to Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys for a Week 4 matchup on Oct. 1. But the bad blood between the two may already be stirring up months in advance thanks to an appearance by Micah Parsons at Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons was in attendance for Heat at Celtics Wednesday night at TD Garden wearing, of all things, a Jayson Tatum jersey. Parsons is from Pennsylvania, and attended Penn State University, so while it’s unconfirmed, most believe him to be a Philadelphia 76ers fan. He was spotted last week in Philly at the Wells Fargo Center wearing a Tyrese Maxey jersey, which would add up.

Parsons showing up to the Garden for Game 1 in a Tatum jersey could likely have been him paying off a lost bet for all we know. Or maybe he’s a Tatum fan, or just plain a frontrunner? Tatum, in meeting Parsons before the game, even called out Parsons for wearing a 76ers jersey last week in Philly.

Well, once the photo and his tweet went viral, known Patriots linebacker and Patriots/Boston defender Matthew Judon stepped up and wanted none of Parsons’ shenanigans.

Judon, who also doubles as the team’s unofficial GM, wasted no time telling Parsons what he thought of his attire and appearance. He may just be playing, or he may be vocal in wanting no bad mojo in the Garden, especially with Patriots coach Bill Belichick in attendance. Perhaps Belichick wanted a word with Parsons, one of the best defenders in the NFL. Judon, however, won’t stand for any games at his team and city’s expense.

The Celtics need all the positive vibes they can get as they are just .500 (4-4) at the Garden this postseason. If only they could defend Jimmy Butler and the Heat the way Judon defends Boston and his team.

We’ll see how these two engage and interact on the field at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas this fall. The Celtics are back at it against the Miami Heat, hosting Game 2 Friday night at the Garden.
