Red Sox reportedly add Marwin González, who played for Alex Cora in Houston

A day after trading away Andrew Benintendi, the Red Sox made another move Thursday.

According to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, the team has signed utility man Marwin González. It’s a one-year, $3 million deal that includes a more than $1 million in incentives.

González was with Houston when manager Alex Cora was the bench coach.

The 32-year-old will give the Red Sox depth both in the infield and outfield.

He's spent the last two years in Minnesota, batting .211 in 53 games in 2020. His best season came in 2017 when he hit .303 with 23 home runs and 90 RBI.
