Patriots 53-man roster tracker: QB Bailey Zappe among final cuts

The Patriots and every other NFL team had until 4 p.m. Tuesday to get down to their initial 53-man roster for the season. They began that process on Monday with 14 cuts, and continued it throughout the day Tuesday. Follow below for the latest updates.

4 p.m. -- The Patriots officially announced all their Tuesday roster moves to get down to 53 players:

RESERVE LISTS

The Patriots placed WR Kendrick Bourne, G Cole Strange and LB Sione Takitaki on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List, DT Christian Barmore on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List (designated to return) and OL Calvin Anderson, S Marte Mapu (designated to return) and DT Armon Watts on Injured Reserve.

RELEASED PLAYERS

The Patriots released the following players: S Joshuah Bledsoe, T Kellen Diesch, OL Liam Fornadel, LB Joe Giles-Harris, RB Kevin Harris, RB Terrell Jennings, LB Kobe Jones, WR Matt Landers, G Atonio Mafi, DE Jotham Russell, K Chad Ryland, S A.J. Thomas, CB Shaun Wade, WR David Wallis, TE Mitchell Wilcox and QB Bailey Zappe.

3 p.m. -- The Patriots are reportedly releasing cornerback Shaun Wade (per Doug Kyed) and offensive tackle Kellen Diesch (per Mark Daniels). Their roster stands at 58, with an hour to go until they must get to 53.

12:40 p.m. -- In perhaps the most surprising move so far, the Patriots have released running back Kevin Harris, according to MassLive's Mark Daniels. Harris played well in the preseason, but New England is opting to roll with Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson and JaMycal Hasty as their running backs.

-- We have a winner of the kicking competition! According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots are releasing Chad Ryland, meaning Joey Slye is the opening day kicker.

-- The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed reports the Patriots are cutting wide receiver Matt Landers, defensive end Kobe Jones, offensive lineman Liam Fornadel, wide receiver/returner David Wallis, and defensive end Jotham Russell.

-- Chris Price of the Boston Globe reports that New England is releasing defensive back A.J. Thomas and offensive tackle Calvin Anderson (with an injury designation.

11 a.m. -- The Patriots are waiving quarterback Bailey Zappe, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. That leaves the Patriots' quarterback room at three, with rookies Drake Maye and Joe Milton joining veteran Jacoby Brissett.

-- ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that wide receiver Kendrick Bourne will remain on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start the season, meaning he will miss at least the first four weeks. MassLive's Mark Daniels reports that the same is true for guard Cole Strange.

-- According to Pelissero, the Patriots are waiving tight end Mitchell Wilcox. The move seemingly paves the way for rookie Jaheim Bell to make the team as the third tight end behind Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper.

-- According to the Boston Herald's Doug Kyed, New England is also cutting safety Joshuah Bledsoe, defensive tackle Armon Watts and running back Terrell Jennings.
