It’s only been five weeks of NFL action, but some statistical trends are starting to take hold across the league. As such, WEEI.com will check in each week through the remainder of the season to see how the Patriots (2-3) are doing statistically in a variety of areas, both on a team level and as individuals.
Pats stats analysis: Matt Judon, one of the prizes of the Patriots aggressive free agent spending this offseason, has had an impressive instant impact on the New England defense. With two sacks on Sunday in Houston, Judon’s team-high 6.5 sacks on the reason now ranks second in the NFL, trailing only Browns star Myles Garrett. Judon has sacks in four straight games and already has more than Chase Winovich’s team-high 5.5 sacks from a year ago. Judon is also on pace for 22 sacks in 17 games, which would break the Patriots team record (18.5, Andre Tippett, 1984) and challenge the NFL record (22.5, Michael Strahan, 2001). … Rookie QB Mac Jones continues to be one of the most accurate passers in the NFL, ranking fifth in the league with a 71.1 completion percentage. Jones also ranks in the top 10 in attempts (9th) and completions (4th). … Jakobi Meyers is slowly moving up the rankings in receptions, now tied for 7th in the NFL with 31 catches. … Thanks to four more field goals in Houston, including the game-winner, Nick Folk now has 48 points on the season and trails only Buffalo’s Tyler Bass (52 points) in scoring among kickers. Folk leads the NFL in both field goals attempted (15) and made (14).
