Would Red Sox trade Jarren Duran over Wilyer Abreu?
Roman Anthony isn't letting the conversation cool off.
The reasons for the Red Sox to promote the outfielder from Triple-A to the majors have been easy to come by. The top prospect in baseball continues to dominate for the Worcester Red Sox, totaling a .916 OPS to go along with more hits of 100 mph or better than any player in the minors.
Saturday, Anthony added another feather in his cap.
The outfielder blasted a 497-foot grand slam in the eighth inning of Worcester's 10-4 win at Polar Park. The blast - which traveled at 115.6 mph - was the longest ball hit in either the majors or minors this season, topping the 484 home runs by minor-leaguer Aramis Garcia and Mike Trout of the Angels.
It was the third homer Anthony has hit at 115 mph or better, with this one only falling behind the 116 mph, 383-foot homer he hit on May 24. The lefty hitter's previous longest home run this season came Tuesday when he launched a 428-foot homer.
According to Statcast, the furthest homer in the minors came off the bat of current Angel Jo Adell in 2023, a 514-foot blast.
