Red Sox fans, soak it in while you can.
While the Sox still haven't played a game in the 2021 season thanks to Thursday's postponement, the Yankees did play. Thanks to the Blue Jays it wasn't a good day for the New Yorkers.
Toronto took advantage of the extra-inning rule placing a runner on second base to start an inning, with Randal Grichuk lofting a fly ball over the head of Aaron Judge in the first at-bat of the 10th inning, scoring Jonathan Davis.
Julian Merryweather came on to strike out the side in the bottom of the 10th inning, stranding the Yankees' free runner, Judge, at second base, handing the Blue Jays the 3-2 win at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with D.J. LeMahieu at-bat and runners at first and third with one out. But the American League batting champ grounded to third baseman Cavan Biggio, who cut down the potential game-winning run at the plate. Judge ended the inning with a strikeout.
