Through three games, the Bruins' second-round series against the Islanders had been physical but generally pretty respectful.
In Game 4, the two teams apparently decided to ditch the respect. The first period was physical as always, but with a lot more chippiness and two fights.
The first fight came from one of the most unexpected of sources, as Taylor Hall dropped the gloves with Scott Mayfield after Mayfield had thrown Hall to the ice following a hit by Hall. It was Hall's second career NHL fight, with his only other one coming during his rookie season on March 3, 2011.
The second came from a more likely source, with Jarred Tinordi squaring off with Matt Martin. That one came about during a 10-man scrum that ensued in response to a Mathew Barzal crosscheck to Curtis Lazar's face that earned Barzal two minutes in the penalty box as well.
