Vrabel: Brady 'probably' talked to Seahawks coach, but 'that's not why we lost'

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald launched the NFL's great summer mystery last month when he told Dan Patrick that Seattle got help from someone with a "conflict of interest" before beating the Patriots in Super Bowl 60.

Macdonald said in that same interview that it wasn't Bill Belichick, and he later told WEEI's own Zach Gelb that it wasn't Tom Brady either.

Not everyone has bought that denial, though – including New England coach Mike Vrabel, it seems. Vrabel joined The Greg Hill Show Friday morning and said he thinks Brady and Macdonald "probably" did talk, before adding that it's not why the Patriots lost. Listen to the full interview above.

"Probably. He hired his offensive coordinator," Vrabel said, referring to Brady's Raiders hiring then-Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak mere days before the Super Bowl.

"But that's not why we lost the game. We talk to a lot of people, and there's a lot of film, and it's not why we lost the game. I mean, I'm sure they talked. He hired his offensive coordinator."

Brady also made headlines during Super Bowl week for saying he "didn't have a dog in the fight," a comment that bothered former Patriots teammates like Vince Wilfork and Tedy Bruschi.

Chris Curtis asked Vrabel if that comment bothered him at all.

"No," Vrabel said. "I mean, clearly Tom's going out of his way to make it known that he's trying – that he has a new job and a new role. You know, it is really what it is. Tom's a friend. He'll always be a friend. He's a former teammate. But I mean, he's made it clear, like, 'I'm doing something new now.'"
