What to expect from Patriots on Day 2 of Draft
For the first time since Devin McCourty in 2010, the Patriots selected a defensive back in the first round of the NFL Draft, taking Oregon's Christian Gonzalez 17th overall after trading down three spots.
What did it sound like when New England's draft room shared the news with the newest Patriot? Now we know.
In a video posted to the Patriots' social media channels, we can see coach Bill Belichick's phone call with Gonzalez where he informs the 20-year-old cornerback that the Pats are about to draft him.
"We're about to make you a Patriot, so congratulations," Belichick says. "Look forward to working with you."
