The only thing better than a flight to the islands is a non-stop flight to the islands. The CDC says we can travel again (once we're fully vaccinated) and we've been collecting, but not using, vacation days for 18 months.
The Bahamas were always a good choice but now they're looking even better from Austin. American Airlines will soon make it easier to get to Nassau with their new, once a week non-stop flight from ABIA. The Saturday flight will begin June 5th and, according to AA, is the only non-stop from Austin to The Bahamas.
It may be time to burn some of that accrued PTO and saved stimulus money on a (non-stop flight) to the islands.
