The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) provides access to affordable healthcare for greater Austin’s low-income, working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness. Since many Austin musicians are self-employed and have no access to health insurance or basic healthcare through an employer, HAAM is here to fill the gap.
HAAM links musicians to affordable healthcare coverage through the ACA Marketplace, while also offering supplemental health services through their core programs of dental, hearing, vision and wellness. ACA Marketplace insurance plans provide comprehensive benefits, including preventative and specialty care, emergency services and hospitalization, pregnancy & maternity care, prescription coverage and so much more. Plus, there are no exclusions for preexisting conditions.
To become a HAAM musician, the individual must be a working musician, music teacher and/or DJ who lives within 50 miles of Austin, and has an income that is at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level.
HAAM could not accomplish its mission without community partners like Central Health and Foundation Communities. Central Health helps to fund insurance premium assistance for low-income Travis County residents, including many HAAM musicians, and Foundation Communities helps HAAM musicians complete the ACA Marketplace enrollment process - they are the experts on everything the ACA has to offer.
In an effort to make it easier for Americans to sign up for affordable health coverage and reduce health disparities, this year, the Biden-Harris Administration extended the Open Enrollment period 30 days through January 15, 2022. HAAM can assist you to get covered during this extended open enrollment period. More good news- a new law increases the affordability of ACA Marketplace plans and even more people qualify for subsidies from the government.

● HAAM membership is available year-round
● If you need health insurance for 2022, you have until January 15, 2022 to get enrolled in an ACA Marketplace plan.
