Holiday Tree Recycling in the ATX area

Kickoff 2022 doing 1Thing for the ATX area! Got a real tree! Don't throw it away. Give it a new life! Recycle it! The City of Austin is making it easy to do.

Starting December 26, if you're a curbside customer you can recycle your tree at the curb. Remove all decorations and stands from trees. Set your tree out by 6:30a on your composting collection day. Trees over 6 feet should be cut in half. Trees with artificial snow (flocking) won't be accepted. Do not put your tree in a plastic bag.

A contactless holiday tree drop off is available for all residents at Zilker Park. you don't have to be a City of ATX customer. Remove all decorations / stands. No trees with artificial snow are accepted. A mask / face covering is required for drop off. Drop off dates between 10a-2p:

Recycling your holiday tree will give it new life. Holiday trees collected at Zilker Park will be turned into mulch. You will have the opportunity to pick up free mulch on a first-come, first-service basis starting 1/12 at 9a (weather permitting). Bring your own tools and containers for loading and transporting the mulch. Please wear your mask / face covering.

Texas Disposal Systems is also accepting holiday trees starting Monday, December 27. You can drop off unflocked (no artificial snow) trees, holly, pumpkins, and other living decorations at collection sites. Trees and decorations must be natural, no artificial snow, lights, ornaments, metal and other contaminants. If your tree has non-living items, there will be a $45 contamination fee.
