As temperatures continue to rise, people look for any way possible to cool down. For many, that includes chugging their favorite cold refreshments. While everyone has their favorite summer drink, it seems more and more people have turned to seltzer as their beverage of choice, especially when things start to heat up. However, those seltzer drinkers may be in for a rough few months, as Topo Chico recently announced a supply shortage throughout Texas.

Those that have made the trip to a convenient store recently to pick up a case of Topo Chico may have noticed less supply of the popular drink than normal. According to a Topo Chico spokesperson, they are experiencing a temporary tight stock of product due to “extremely strong consumer demand” combined with “a shortage of raw materials.” While they did not reveal what materials are causing the shortage, some believe it could be due to a glass shortage.

“We’re working hard and implementing contingency plans to keep the products people love on shelves during this temporary shortage,” said the Topo Chico spokesperson. According to KXAN, it is unknown how long the shortage may last. Hopefully this doesn’t affect the hard seltzer market as well.
