Heather Walker is the Vice President of Public Relations for the Boston Celtics. Heather was diagnosed with Glioblastoma brain cancer last July.
Heather is a wife and a mom of two girls. Shortly after her diagnosis, she immediately wanted to figure out a way to help people battling Glioblastoma so she started the "Heather Walker Glioblastoma fund at Dana Farber". All dollars raised go directly to Dr. Reardon (her neuro-oncologist at Dana Farber). He happens to be conducting a Glioblastoma trial at MIT that she is currently enrolled in. They created a "Heather Walker vaccine" and the hope is that it will stimulate her own immune system to fight the disease.
"Move 4 Heather" started as a challenge in September for people to DO WHAT MOVES YOU and MOVE 4 HEATHER! Pick anything you enjoy doing, want to do or inspires or moves you. Post a photo/ video, tag #M4H, Challenge 3 friends to do the same and DONATE to help Heather, her family and friends in their fight for more research and treatment of Glioblastoma! You can go to the Facebook page or you can just Google "Move 4 Heather" (#M4H) and it will bring you to her page on Dana Farber's website which explains a little about her, the challenge, how to DONATE, how the doctor is handling doing the money, etc.
The Celtics honored her as a "Hero Among Us" at the Celtics game on Sunday, March 13th for all of Heather's brave effort to fight this disease and raise over $310k to date for the Heather Walker Glioblastoma Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
