An app that is fighting food waste and helping restaurants all at the same time.
Too Good To Go was founded in Copenhagen back in 2016. The app, thankfully, just became available in early December in the United States.
The way the app works is it connects people/users with nearby restaurants that have surplus food to sell. It's fighting food waste in a big way, while still allowing the restaurants to make a profit on food that they would usually have to throw away.
The savings are also a huge draw for users. One customer in particular showed that she ordered a chicken parm dinner on the app, that would usually cost almost $20, and she only spent $3.99.
The app makes it possible for users who may not be able to afford to spend a lot on food, but want to support local restaurants in our community - all while helping the restaurants eliminate food waste.
Too Good To Go said it wants to "show Americans how everyone can make a difference in the fight against food AND climate change, one Surprise Bag pick-up at a time."
If you haven't checked out the app, download it now to help support our local Boston spots!
