A family is rejoicing after their dog was found alive and well after a tornado blew through town.

The storm, which was classified as an EF-3 with 150 mph winds, came barreling down on the small town of Fultondale, Alabama on Monday night.

In its path was the Williams’ home. The family fled to safety in a nearby shelter, but unfortunately, lost their dog in the chaos.

"Just as soon as we got in there, it just came down on top of us. We were trapped underneath some stuff for about 15, 20 minutes until our neighbors came, helped us get out," Jason Williams told the Associated Press.

However, in an uplifting turn, they found the pup, named Smokey, while searching debris near the home the next day.

Despite being caught under the rubble of the home, he survived and came out unscathed.

The miraculous rescue was caught on video. In the clip, several men are seen lifting the large dog out of what once was the Williams’ basement.

After some encouraging words, they are able to pull Smokey up by his collar as he regains his strength and runs to safety.

According to WSB-TV, he likely spent hours down there.

Aside from reuniting with their dog, the family lost everything else.

“I’m just so proud that Smokey is OK. One of my daughters had some guinea pigs and the other one had a turtle. and I can’t find them. I just found part of the guinea pig cage,” he said.

"We a little bruised and scraped up, but other than that, God had his mighty hand on us," William added.

The tornado left devastation in its wake destroying buildings, killing one person, and injuring at least 30.
