Kathy Jacobs is more than ready for her overdue close-up.
The 57-year-old is making headlines for being one of the rookies in the recently released 2021 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue and is the oldest model in the magazine’s history.

Discovered through SI’s annual swimsuit model search, Jones is fully basking in the glory of breaking the bikini ceiling.
“I’m closer to 60 than I am to 50 at this point,” she told the New York Post. “So to be in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine representing ladies my age is just the best feeling in the world.”
Prior to the release of the magazine, Jacobs took part in a swimsuit runway show for the brand at Miami Swim Week earlier this month. Despite being surrounded by women half her age, Jones didn’t let that intimidate her.
“I was like ‘screw it,’” Jacobs told the outlet. “I’m going to be my biggest, baddest and boldest self.”
“I’m taking full advantage of this moment,” she said of landing the SI Swimsuit issue. “Because It’s taken me so long to get here.”
This year’s more inclusive issue also features rapper Megan Thee Stallion as one of the three cover stars alongside tennis superstar Naomi Osaka and SI Swim’s first transgender model of color Leyna Bloom.
While Jacobs is proud to be in the company of such beautiful and talented women, she’s making sure to stay away from any comparisons.
“I’m not competing with 20-year-olds, 30, 40 or even 50-year-olds,” Jacobs shared. “I’m just trying to be the best that I can be.”
