In late-January, Jackass star, comedian, and podcaster Steve-O’s good times were sidelined when he tested positive for COVID while attending WWE’s Royal Rumble, forcing him to sit out not only that epic event but also the premiere of his latest Jackass installment at the beginning of February. Rested and tested following a bout with COVID, Steve-O joined Audacy hosts Klein & Ally at KROQ in Los Angeles to discuss his current comedy tour and some inappropriate stories from his past.

“I felt fine, I never would have known anything was up,” Steve-O says about his COVID experience, adding insult to the soul crushing injuries he sustained by not being able to partake in pro-wrestling’s big event as well as his premiere. You would think, as Klein mentioned, that a little coronavirus would be nothing compared to the atrocities Steve-O has committed against his own body in the name of Knoxville over the years, and you would be right.
“You know, I’m such an attention whore,” he says, “that there’s two possible scenarios: No positive COVID test and I walk the red carpet like everybody else does and there’s nothing special… there would have been nothing notable about it. Because I couldn’t go to the premiere, I was able to make this super fun YouTube video called ‘Why I Was Banned From the Jackass Premiere.’" Of course, his video’s main focus became promoting not only the sick merch on his website but his new comedy tour that just hit the road on February 16.
For the first time in history, the public is being given a chance to nominate a film for an Academy Award. It's a dream that Steve-O has had ever since the first Jackass film -- to be able to accept an Oscar and "while on stage accepting it, put it up my butt." A noble dream, indeed, and a stunt he's already begun training for. "I went to one of the souvenir shops on Hollywood Boulevard, and just bought a toy one. You know the head of the Oscar statue..." Just listen above. We have a no-fly list to get to.
Klein & Ally took a call from a listener who happened to be an airline employee tasked with the uncomfortable job of denying Steve-O a flight because he was on a no-fly list. Awkwaaard... Anyway, this jarred Steve-O's memory of being arrested on a flight in 2004, and his current idea for a '10 Craziest Arrests' video forthcoming. "I used to smoke cigarettes way back then," he explains, "almost 20 years ago, and every flight I got on they always said, 'this is a non-smoking flight and federal law prohibited tampering with a smoke detector in the lavatory.' So I just took that to mean that federal law didn't prohibit smoking a cigarette in my seat. I never tampered with the smoke detector, I only tampered with a cigarette and I never even left my seat."
He continues, "the flight attendant came and asked me to put it out. I put it out on my wrist, like sizzling my flesh... as soon as I put that one out I lit up another one, and I definitely said things I'm not proud of. When the plane landed... the cops came on and removed me. It's more of a catch and release situation, and ultimately it ended up in me just paying a fine as I understand it. I honestly didn't know that I was on an actual no-fly list because I've never had a problem flying.
